Jazz is an American art form whose roots date back to the mid-19th century slave songs and chants. They got a 5-minute tutorial on the system, then had 10 minutes per song to play with it. Since we figured participants would be sufficiently uncomfortable singing in a stranger's office, we didn't ask people to work with new melodies; instead, we had them bring in a few of their favorite pop songs.

What I love about this melody is variation in rhythm, you've got this staggering arp-like A section, then a long note followed by the close of the melody in a different rhythm. In terms of the drums for the intro of this Trap beat, I chose to just use some layered 808 drums with a few difference Trap Snares types layered together to create a unique and catchy snare sequence, which can be seen below.

Also known for their vibrant beats, quick transitions, and melodic choruses, Love and Radiation is also about having fun, which comes out most vividly in the song, "Let's Rock Tonight", a poppy ballad about having fun. It helps you work faster when you can hear your Chord Progression played using different instruments.

Activate different tracks for drums and synths, and you can build an entire track out of chords, melodies and basslines. This makes the listener feel the weak beats while anticipating the strong, which creates a sense of driving forward through the song (aka not being boring).

You can start by playing random notes until something sticks but I suggest starting with a bit of structure. The grace note is usually played just before the beat. In this lil uzi vert type beat 2019 short video from Atlanta Trap producer Booker Edwards taken from the Hip Hop Trap course, you'll see how using specific types of melodies and chord progressions is crucial to nailing that Trap sound and feel.
